Our FX system is a critical component of our trading infrastructure, processing high-volume foreign exchange transactions and delivering real-time data to our clients across the globe.

This Java Developer position at State Street focuses on maintaining and enhancing a global FX trading system. The role requires expertise in Java development, Oracle Database management, and Bash scripting while working in an Agile environment with a distributed global team. The ideal candidate will contribute to mission-critical financial infrastructure, handling high-volume foreign exchange transactions and collaborating across time zones to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a global team of developers across multiple time zones to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications
• Work within an Agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
• Develop and optimize backend services using Java and related technologies
• Write and maintain Bash scripts for deployment and system maintenance tasks
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability
• Demonstrate more independence of design and development

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience with full lifecycle of project development for Java applications.
• B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.
• Excellent English Reading and written skills
• Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17 or higher)
• Experience with Oracle Database including SQL, PL/SQL, and performance optimization
• Proficiency in Bash scripting for deployment
• Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Nice to have:

• Experience Frontend technologies like React
• Excellent English verbal skills
• Understanding of messaging systems (Kafka, JMS)
