As a Software Engineer inRockford, Illinois,you’lljoin a dynamic, innovative agile/scrum teamthat’sshaping the future of aerospace and defense. Youwon’tjust write code,you’llcreate and support a cutting-edge, reusable operating environment that powers automated product testing and hardware-in-the-loop simulations. Your work will directlyimpactthe performance and reliability of next-generation aerospace systems, giving you the chance to solve challenging technical problems, collaborate with top engineers, and see your solutions come to life in real-world applications.

What You Will Do

• Develop modular software applicationsinterfacing withtest equipment hardware (including prime mover controllers, loadbanks, power supplies, discrete/analog I/O, and communication data networks) and integrate them into cohesive systems.

• Collaborate with electrical engineers on wiring, hardware configuration, and test stand requirements.

• Design and implement advanced software tools, supercomputing clusters, and real-time applications for Automatic Test Equipment using Object-Oriented Design, scripting languages (Python, TCL, etc.), and C++.

• Provide on-site and remote support, including debugging, operating system administration, and computer hardware build-up/teardown, to internal development labs inRockford, Illinois

• Lead large software development efforts, managing both technical implementation and financial planning aspects.

• Develop software for Linux and Windows operating systems.

• Generate andmaintainsoftware documentation and manage change requests.
  Review and update department processes.

Qualifications You Must Have 

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

• Strongproficiencyin C++ and Python scripting experience.

• Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.

• Familiarity with hardware integration and testing environments.

• Familiarity with object-oriented design principles and software design patterns.

• Configuration management experience (version control,buildsystems, etc.).

• UX design experience (for interface tools and user-facing applications).

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
