The Advanced Programs and Exploitation (APEX) team within Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a skilled software engineer to support space-based mission processing of OPIR data used for missile warning and defense programs.
In this position, you will develop and integrate mission processing applications and flight software that operate on space-based processing systems. You will work at the intersection of mission applications and the underlying flight software environment, developing software that must operate reliably within constrained, real-time, and mission-critical systems.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining C++ software for space-based mission processing
- Developing applications that interface with flight software and spacecraft processing infrastructure
- Integrating mission applications with existing flight software frameworks and services
- Developing and debugging software for embedded Linux and real-time operating systems
- Working with inter-process communication, messaging, memory, and hardware interfaces
- Troubleshooting and debugging software on embedded target hardware
- Developing software that meets real-time, performance, reliability, and resource constraints
- Participating in software architecture, design, code reviews, and technical documentation
- Integrating software with other mission processing, payload, and spacecraft subsystems
- Supporting software verification, qualification, and operational testing
This position is located in our offices in beautiful Boulder, Colorado.
Basic Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering,
- or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a related technical field
- Development experience in C++
- Experience developing software for Linux or embedded systems
- Experience with software debugging and integration
- Ability to obtain a Secret government clearance

- Multithreaded, real‑time C++ development
- Spacecraft, payload, avionics, or related embedded systems

- Image‑signal or mission‑data processing
- Active security clearance

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $166900.00 - $309900.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
