Welcome to SSC Space (formerly Swedish Space Corporation). We work with space technology, launch services and systems used by customers around the world.

With space organizations, research institutes, institutional and commercial actors as customers, we offer specialist expertise in satellite communications, spacecraft consulting services, rocket and balloon systems, and much more.

SSC Space also has one of the world’s largest global networks of ground stations for satellite communications. We own and operate the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, northern Sweden, with the aim of launching satellites in the near future.

Do you want to work with software used in rocket and balloon operations? Are you comfortable with technical systems, troubleshooting and close cooperation with operations and IT?

We are looking for a Software Engineer for our Rockets and Balloons department at Esrange Space Center. The role is practical, technical and closely connected to our launch operations.

As Software Engineer, you will develop, maintain and improve software and operational systems used before, during and after rocket and balloon campaigns.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will work with software and systems that support safe and efficient rocket and balloon operations.

Example of structure

  • Design, develop, maintain and improve software systems used for launch operations, mission support and campaign execution.
  • Manage software configurations, releases, documentation and lifecycle activities.
  • Support troubleshooting, testing, verification and validation of operational software and related systems.
  • Participate in procurement, development and implementation projects involving software, automation and operational systems.
  • Ensure software solutions comply with applicable security, safety and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and other technical teams across SSC Space.

Requirements

We believe you have solid software development experience, work in a structured way and can cooperate with different technical functions.

Additional desired skills include Swedish language skills, experience with C, C++, .NET, C# or Rust, agile methods, test automation, project coordination, a university degree at bachelor level or higher, and leadership experience.

  • Fluency in English.
  • Software development and system administration skills.
  • Experience from Linux and Windows environments.
  • Deep experience in at least one programming language.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary technical environments.
  • Structured problem-solving skills and strong communication skills.
