As a Technical Architect, you will drive the technical vision and architecture strategy for critical areas of the Polarion platform. You will partner with Engineering, Product Management, DevOps, Security, User Experience, and other LCS product teams to deliver scalable, secure, cloud-ready solutions that serve thousands of enterprise customers worldwide.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, influencing product direction and creating architectural foundations for future innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Strategy & Architecture Leadership

  • Define and communicate long-term architecture vision aligned with Polarion product strategy.
  • Drive architecture decisions impacting multiple product areas and engineering teams.
  • Establish architectural standards, design principles, and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead technical design reviews and architectural governance.

Product & Platform Evolution

  • Architect highly scalable and resilient enterprise software solutions.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, platform transformation, and SaaS enablement.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt while ensuring sustainable product growth.
  • Ensure consistency across platform services, APIs, and integration frameworks.

Cross-Portfolio Integration

  • Drive technical alignment between Polarion and the broader Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem.
  • Define integration architecture with Teamcenter, Capital, cloud services, and third-party tools.
  • Lead interoperability and traceability initiatives across the digital thread.

Technology Innovation

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability to Polarion.
  • Champion adoption of AI/ML, Generative AI, intelligent automation, and developer productivity innovations.
  • Guide proof-of-concept activities and architecture spikes.

Quality, Security & Reliability

  • Ensure secure-by-design and privacy-by-design architecture practices.
  • Drive product performance, scalability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Quality and DevOps organizations to improve reliability and customer experience.

Technical Mentorship

  • Mentor architects, principal engineers, and senior developers.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to engineering leaders and product stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

  • 15+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years in Software Architect, Principal Engineer, Technical Architect, or equivalent roles.
  • Proven experience architecting large-scale enterprise software products.
  • Demonstrated success influencing technical direction across multiple teams.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Java and enterprise application architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and API-driven architectures.
  • Experience designing cloud-native applications and SaaS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Expertise in security architecture, authentication, authorization, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ALM, PLM, DevOps, Requirements Management, or Engineering Lifecycle Management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Polarion, Teamcenter, or Siemens Digital Industries Software products.
  • Experience with Generative AI, LLM-based solutions, or intelligent engineering applications.
  • Experience working in globally distributed product organizations.
