Waypoint Trading Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Oculus product team. This role will focus on the continued evolution of our SaaS portal platform through new feature development, backend integrations, architecture improvements, and operational support.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who enjoys building scalable systems, solving technical problems, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced financial technology environment. Our products help clients manage complex trading, market data, and operational workflows with reliability, transparency, and scale. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the team responsible for Oculus, our SaaS-based portal platform.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who enjoys building scalable systems, solving technical problems, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced financial technology environment. This individual will play an important role in enhancing the Oculus platform through modern SaaS technologies, event-driven architectures, and continuous system improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain new functionality for the Oculus SaaS portal platform using Java-based technologies.
• Develop integrations with new backend systems and services to expand platform capabilities.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve production and field issues, applying fixes and enhancements to improve system stability and performance.
• Review and evaluate the existing system architecture and recommend new architectural approaches, frameworks, components, and technologies to enhance scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to the evolution of event-driven and real-time processing capabilities leveraging technologies such as Kafka and Flink.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including product management, operations, engineering, and support teams—to define solutions, and support ongoing system needs.
• Participate in system support activities, including root cause analysis, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, code reviews, and software development best practices.
• Assist in documenting technical solutions, system behaviors, operational procedures, and technical standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• professional software development experience, with significant experience in Java-based enterprise or SaaS applications.
• Strong knowledge of the Spring Framework / Spring Boot, Hibernate and modern Java application development patterns.
• Experience working with relational and time-series databases, including MySQL and InfluxDB.
• Familiarity with modern SaaS and web technologies, including frameworks and tools such as SmartClient, Vue.js, JavaScript, REST APIs, and web-based application architectures.
• Experience integrating systems through APIs, messaging, or backend service frameworks.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve production issues.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across technical and business teams and participate in customer-facing discussions when required.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with event-driven and real-time streaming architectures, including technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft.
• Experience with front-end frameworks and component libraries used in SaaS portal development.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, software architecture principles, and cloud-hosted SaaS environments.
• Experience in financial services, trading, market data, or other high-availability environments is a plus.
