The Software Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of solutions within the Digital Trading Team. Working within an Agile environment the ideal candidate will be skilled in C#, SQL (Microsoft and/or Snow SQL). Experience of Angular or other web frameworks is desirable.

The candidate will perform analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support of solutions, utilising innovative applications in Big Data, DevOps projects, models for complex systems and Enterprise integration.

The candidate will also be responsible for developing API’s and ensure code is developed/maintained configured using the various build tools available from DevOps.

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, derived / or non-derived, insightful data-marts and tables which will be the main input for the models, reports and dashboards
  • Working within an Agile environment, within 3-week sprints, delivering quality data enhancements and reports for the Finance Department.
  • From User Stories, look to provide accurate and timely data, that is trusted and understood by the business.
  • Obtaining, transforming and maintaining large quantities of data. • Solving data quality issues, providing data lineage from source.
  • Focus on building and improving a self-service BI solution in Power BI.
  • Deliver ETL across data platforms including Snowflake & MS Azure.
  • Utilising the full Microsoft BI stack, enable the end user to fully understand the data delivered that allows full transparency back to the various source systems.
  • Document all changes that have taken place, including commentary within the source code.
  • Work with senior software development peers to ensure development is in accordance with software development best practices
  • Positive and self-motivated with a high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn and self-teach new and advance software functions Required Skills/Experience

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Background in software engineering with strong SQL skills
  • Design and development using .NET, C# (5+ years)
  • ETL pipeline development experience
  • Experience with cloud solutions - ideally MS Azure or Snowflake
  • Experience of Power BI dashboard development
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience working in very large data warehouse environments
  • JSON/XML
  • Azure Data Factory (Desirable)

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Exposure to Snowflake, MS Azure or other similar Data Platforms
  • Agile Development experience
  • Experience using Web API with NET core
  • Power BI, including Desktop, BI Service, Apps and DAX
  • Experience of one or more SQL technologies, including building and management of stored procedures, views, functions and ETL methodologies.
  • Experience using GIT (GitHub) and CI/CD solutions
