PACCAR's Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

About the Role

PACCAR Information Technology Division (ITD) delivers world class IT solutions to internal and external customers. PACCAR ITD is searching for talented individuals to join our Summer Internship Program! We are looking for a curious, creative, and motivated individual that is passionate about developing software solutions for automotive industry.

During your internship with PACCAR, you will have the opportunity to explore cutting edge technologies and work with highly technical teams. Our internship program is designed to give you real world experience and develop skills to succeed in software engineering for automotive industry.

About the Team

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work with the Mainframe Applications team. The Mainframe Applications team support Order Processing System, Chassis and Materials & Finance systems which are critical to design, manufacture, deliver, and support premium trucks globally

Job Responsibilities & Projects

  • The intern will work closely with their mentor throughout the duration of the internship
  • Design and develop new features for software application
  • Gain intensive hands-on experience in Design, Implement, Test and Ship production ready software solution
  • Learn and apply Agile Software Development methods and techniques
  • Opportunity to work with senior developers on applications related to Manufacturing, Materials, Sales, Marketing, and more, while implementing engineering and architectural practices, principles, and patterns The intern will have a development plan designed to introduce and teach them the key skills needed to be a successful in their internship

Required Experience

  • 1+ years of college experience, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • Programming knowledge/skills in the following technology, but not limited to:
      • Object-Oriented Programming such as C/C++/C# .NET, and JavaScript
      • JSON, YAML, and XML
      • RESTful API
      • React
      • NET MVC
      • Mainframe
      • DB2
      • HTML
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills with positive attitude
  • Embodies and promotes PACCAR ITD values of Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, Commitment, Openness and Learning
  • Able to commit to a 12-week program throughout summer

Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or related field.

Physical Demands

  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Lifting up to 55 pounds
  • Team lifting large objects such as servers using lifting equipment
