We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III - Java Full Stack Developer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank's Global Banking Tech Team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

  • Create secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems

  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development

  • Gather, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems

  • Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture

  • Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

  • Add to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience

  • Hands-on experience across Java/J2EE, Spring ecosystem, MongoDB, Kafka, and React

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with 4+ years in senior/lead roles

  • Proven track record delivering complex, distributed, production-grade systems at scale

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to lead design reviews and mentor engineers

  • Microservices and event-driven architectures; API-first design; domain-driven design (DDD)

  • Caching strategies (in-memory, Redis), connection pooling, resource governance

  • Throughput/latency improvements: zero-copy patterns, batching, reactive/non-blocking I/O

  • Capacity planning and performance budgets; load testing (JMeter/Gatling) and regression baselines

  • Stakeholder engagement: translating business needs into technical outcomes and KPIs

  • Clear, executive-ready communication: risk trade-offs, dependency management, deliverable planning

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies

  • Experience with Camunda, Apache Camel

  • Exposure to cloud technologies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
