About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Senior Software Engineer (Java) to join our engineering team to build and scale next-generation platform capabilities and AI-driven services.

This role focuses on developing scalable backend solutions and reusable platform services that power intelligent learning and assessment experiences. The ideal candidate will contribute to innovative capabilities such as handwriting recognition, AI-assisted content processing, rubric generation, intelligent grading workflows, and document-based services.

This is a high-impact engineering role suited for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building reusable services, and working with modern cloud-native architectures and AI-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and modern frameworks
• Build and enhance AI-enabled platform capabilities including:
  • Handwriting recognition
  • AI-assisted content extraction
  • Rubric generation
  • AI-assisted grading workflows
• Develop reusable shared services and APIs that can support multiple applications and products
• Contribute to document processing and intelligent workflow services
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and security
• Reduce technical debt through clean architecture and engineering best practices
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decision-making
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot development
• Experience building scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with AI/ML-powered applications or intelligent automation workflows
• Familiarity with OCR, document processing, or NLP-related technologies
• Experience with event-driven and asynchronous architectures
• Exposure to platform engineering and reusable service design
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Agile software development practices
