About Team:

Fashion AI team is focused on leveraging latest research in generative AI, machine learning (ML), statistics, deep learning, computer vision and optimization to reshape how our customers interacts with our search and making it frictionless for them to get what they want. We help bring a seamless experience irrespective of how and where customers engage with us - while shopping online and picking groceries at stores. We operate at the intersection of huge Walmart assortment, millions of customers, thousands of stores, and Walmart associates - a multi-layer multi-objective problem space which has a unique impact on Global consumer base and powers assisted AI for our associates.

The team consists of data scientists, application engineers, big data geeks and product visionaries all working together to design, prototype and build technology-driven products and experiences that will change the future landscape of e-commerce. We are focused on building an intelligent system that will revolutionize customer experience, from finding the product to delivering it to the customer. We are building state-of-the-art machine learnt systems using cutting edge technology that has ability to A/B test in fast iterations, use GPU/CPU based online inferencing of deep learnt and traditional models and event driven architecture. This will span multi markets, business models and form factors, therefore, we are looking for Software Engineers who will bring not only an abundance of curiosity in technologies but an abundant drive to innovate and learn.

What you'll do:

As a Software Engineer focused on ML for Walmart, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Application & Feature Delivery:
  • Contribute to scoped feature or model delivery within a collaborative engineering team. You will have opportunity to develop software that meets and exceeds company and customer needs.
  • Implement, test, and maintain assigned solution components, APIs, or data pipelines under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Translate defined requirements into working technical solutions that meet quality and performance standards.
• Solution Development:
  • Assist in the design and implementation of scalable ML solutions using algorithms and frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, and Spark ML.
  • Write clean, maintainable code in Python, Java, Golang to support solution workflows and applications.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model experimentation pipelines.
• Build & Deploy ML Systems:
  • Contribute to model evaluation, and integration into production systems.
  • Learn & Apply MLOps practices such as model versioning, automated retraining, and CI/CD for ML under team direction.
  • Monitor deployed models for performance and assist with updates or retraining when required.
• Collaboration & Continuous Learning:
  • Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers to ensure ML solutions integrate seamlessly into products and platforms.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to improving team coding and testing practices.
  • Continuously develop ML engineering skills, frameworks knowledge, and domain expertise.

What you will Bring

· Qualifications:

PhD / Masters degree with 1 year experience / 4-years Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Educational qualifications should be preferably in Computer Science or a strongly quantitative discipline

• Strong proficiency in Python/Java and a deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and clean code principles.
• Solid grasp of computer systems fundamentals (Memory management, Concurrency, and Distributed Systems) with focus on Kubernetes.
• Ability to implement and optimize data structures and algorithms specifically for machine learning workflows across ML lifecycle: data collection, labeling, training, validation, and deployment.
• A proactive attitude toward learning & debugging production systems and optimizing code for low-latency requirements.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical implementation details to both engineering and science peers.
