As a Software Engineer II on the Agent 365 Foundation team, you will build the storage and resource-provider foundation that Agent 365 and the wider Agent Cloud run on. Our services hold the durable state for agents configuration, telemetry, evaluation data, audit records and customer content across blob, ADLS, Cosmos DB and the resource provider layer that fronts them. Partner teams across Agent 365, Dataverse, Dynamics 365 come to us when they need storage that scales, costs what it should, and stands up to enterprise compliance review. The services you build are the substrate for mission-critical business applications used by some of the largest companies in the world, and the same platform now carries a fast-growing set of agentic AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate storage services and resource-provider APIs on ADLS and Cosmos DB that meet scale, latency and cost targets for agent workloads.
• Own a service end to end — architecture, code, deployment, on-call, live-site health and the postmortems that follow.
• Work directly with partner engineering teams to onboard new scenarios onto the platform, and define where the platform ends and the partner begins.
• Drive cost and performance engineering — storage tiering, capacity planning and the telemetry needed to reason about both.
• Use AI tooling and agentic development loops in your own work, and bring the patterns that work back to the team and to our partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years building and operating distributed services or data platforms in production.
• Solid technical design and code understanding, with deep expertise in data structures, concurrency, API design, and distributed systems.
• Uses AI-assisted development as a force multiplier, focusing on problem decomposition, architecture, reviewing generated code, validating correctness, and driving high-quality engineering outcomes
• Hands-on experience with cloud storage and data services-object or lake storage, NoSQL databases, or the resource-provider and control-plane layers that manage them.
• A track record of shipping and operating what you build: on-call, incident response, and measurable reliability or cost wins.
• Clear communication, and the judgment to drive a design decision across teams.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Cosmos DB, or Azure Resource Manager style resource providers.
• Background in observability or telemetry pipelines, large-scale analytics, or search and vector retrieval over platform data.
• Experience building infrastructure for AI or agent workloads, including evaluation and inference pipelines.
• Fluency with agentic development loops-designing, building and reviewing software with AI agents, and guiding them effectively is a solid positive.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
