deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL

deciBel Research seeks a Software Engineer to support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) team on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system. On the Ground Support Systems (GSS) IPT, you will be responsible for developing and implementing software capabilities that best meet changing customer needs for new and existing features, collaborating with team members, and working in a cross-functional agile scrum team.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design, develop, document, debug and test application software and systems
• Collaborate with other software and systems engineers to determine user needs
• Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment
• Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction
• Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs
• Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives
• Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborations across disciplines

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field from an accredited university with two years' experience, or a Masters degree.

Experience Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in software development with proficiency in Java and C++.
• Familiarity with JavaFX and Java 21 features
• Proficiency using Git
• Experience deploying and managing software in a Linux (preferably RHEL8) environment
• Familiarity with Eclipse IDE
• Strong grasp of OOP design principles and patterns

Special Skills Desired:

• Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
• Missile Defense domain knowledge
• Knowledge of MySQL for database management and data retrieval
• Experience with gRPC and RESTful services
• Familiarity with Atlassian toolset (Jira, Bitbucket)
• Security + Certification
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
