Job Description

LGT Wealth Management was formed around a clear and uncompromising vision – to bring global best practice in building institutional quality investment portfolios to Australian clients.

With a shared passion for building an uncompromised business – we created something new from the ground up. A chance to leave behind the things that weren’t working, while enhancing the things that were. Our authentic and personalised client-first commitment. Our entrepreneurial spirit. Our focus in best-in-class advice. And our intimate understanding of the Australian private wealth landscape.

In 2022 we became a part of the LGT Group, who shared our entrepreneurial spirit, long-term approach and private-ownership model. Today, with the global expertise, stability, and capability of LGT behind us, we can work without being reliant on markets or margins, with a singular focus on giving our clients the advice and deep expertise they need for generations to come.

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team within the broader Platform function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a Full Stack Software Engineer in the Platform Team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining common digital capabilities used across multiple teams.

We are looking for a hands-on Full Stack Engineer with end-to-end capability across modern Angular/React frontends and Java-based backend development, as well as solid experience working in a containerised, API-driven, CI/CD-enabled enterprise environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain platform products, internal tools, and shared services used across multiple teams.

  • Build frontend experiences for internal platform applications, developer portals, administrative consoles, operational dashboards, and self-service workflows.

  • Develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and automation components that support shared engineering and operational capabilities.

  • Create and maintain reusable libraries, components, templates, standards, and patterns that improve consistency and reduce duplication.

  • Collaborate with architects and technical stakeholders to produce scalable, secure, and supportable solution designs.

  • Support the design and implementation of integration patterns and interfaces across internal systems and third-party platforms, where required.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build and release processes, deployment automation, and software delivery tooling.

  • Champion testing practices, including unit testing, integration testing, automated regression coverage, and quality controls within the delivery lifecycle.

  • Improve developer experience by identifying friction points and implementing practical enhancements to engineering workflows and platform usability.

  • Support platform observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, troubleshooting, and operational health, ensuring issues are identified and resolved efficiently.

  • Participate in incident triage, problem management, release and change support, and production issue resolution across the full stack.

  • Identify and clearly communicate technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, planning, refinement, retrospectives, and demos.

  • Contribute to technical documentation, implementation guides, support runbooks, onboarding materials, and operational procedures.

  • Participate in code reviews, peer collaboration, and engineering practice uplift, helping to strengthen the overall maturity of the Platform Team.

  • Work with security, risk, and governance stakeholders to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, compliance obligations, and secure engineering principles.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify architecture, reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery.

  • Troubleshoot issues across the user interface, APIs, services, integrations, data access layers, environments, and deployment pipelines.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure platform solutions are practical, adoptable, and well supported.

  • Contribute to estimation, planning, and prioritisation activities, helping the team deliver valuable outcomes in a sustainable way.

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field. Equivalent practical experience in software engineering will also be considered.

  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, software engineering, DevOps, Agile, security, or container technologies are highly regarded.

Must have

  • Strong commercial experience in full-stack software engineering across backend, frontend, and mobile development

  • Proven expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with strong experience building REST APIs and microservices

  • Strong frontend development experience using Angular or React, along with TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS

  • Solid mobile development capability using Swift and Kotlin

  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL and/or Oracle

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift in enterprise environments

  • Experience with Git-based CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab, and build tooling such as Maven or Gradle

  • Strong understanding of automated testing practices and tools such as JUnit, Playwright, or similar

  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Grafana/Prometheus, Kibana/Elasticsearch, or equivalent

  • Good understanding of secure software development and modern authentication patterns such as OAuth2, OIDC, and JWT

  • Comfortable working in Agile delivery teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence

Nice to have

  • Experience with integration and middleware technologies such as Apache Camel, Red Hat Fuse, ActiveMQ, IBM MQ, Kafka, JMS, SFTP, and SOAP

  • Exposure to cloud and data platforms such as Azure, OCI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake

  • Familiarity with platform and DevOps tooling including Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD, Tekton, Artifactory, SonarQube, Ansible, and Terraform

  • Experience with persistence and data tooling such as JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, Liquibase, and Spring Batch

  • Working knowledge of additional technologies such as Python, .NET, Nginx, and Power Apps

  • Familiarity with EFK or broader observability tooling

  • Ability to use AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code and Codex to improve development efficiency

  • Experience in financial services or wealth platforms, ideally with technologies such as Avaloq Core Platform, Avaloq Front Platform, BT Panorama, Macquarie Wrap, Netwealth, CFS Edge, Hub24, or similar
