Job Description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Enterprise Technology plays a critical part in shaping the future of mobility. If you’re looking for the chance to leverage advanced technology to redefine the transportation landscape, enhance the customer experience and improve people’s lives, this is the opportunity for you. Join us and challenge your IT expertise and analytical skills to help create vehicles that are as smart as you are.

Join Ford’s Fleet Management engineering team to transform the Ford Pro Fleet ownership experience for commercial customers and dealer partners.

Our platform sits at the intersection of connected vehicles, cloud services, and customer-centric digital applications. We build systems that turn vehicle and service data into proactive insights and operational tools for fleet operators.

In this position...

You will work on modern cloud-native applications, building React-based web interfaces and Java Spring Boot microservices that run in containerized environments on Google Cloud. Engineers on our team own systems end-to-end—from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

We value pragmatic engineering, strong collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement that emphasizes reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity.

What you'll do...

  • Design and deliver full-stack applications
Build and maintain React-based web applications and backend services that deliver reliable and intuitive experiences for fleet customers and internal users.

  • Develop backend services
Design and implement Java Spring Boot microservices and APIs that support the Fleet Management platform and integrate with other enterprise systems.

  • Build scalable cloud systems
Develop and deploy containerized services using Docker and cloud infrastructure platforms such as Google Cloud.

  • Drive quality and reliability
Improve maintainability, performance, and reliability through automated testing, code reviews, monitoring, and observability.

  • Own systems in production
Participate in incident response and operational improvements as part of a sustainable on-call rotation.

  • Collaborate across teams
Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

  • Mentor and elevate the team
Share knowledge, support peer development, and help define engineering standards and architectural direction.

  • Improve developer productivity
Adopt and leverage modern development tools, including AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Google Gemini, to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's in computer science or in similar field of study.

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Strong programming skills in modern languages such as Java, TypeScript, Python, or Go

  • Experience building modern web applications, preferably using frameworks such as React

  • Experience designing and implementing backend services or APIs, ideally using Java and Spring Boot

  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Experience working with containerized applications using Docker or similar technologies

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams

  • A customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate product needs into technical solutions

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience building full-stack applications using React and Java/Spring Boot

  • Experience designing APIs and service interfaces, including RESTful or GraphQL APIs, and familiarity with event-driven or event-sourced microservice architectures.

  • Experience deploying containerized workloads to Google Cloud Run or Kubernetes-based platforms

  • Experience improving observability through metrics, logging, and distributed tracing

  • Ability to debug production issues across multiple services and layers of the stack

  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered features, including applications using Large Language Models (LLMs)

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
• Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
• Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
• Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
• Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
• Tuition assistance
• Established and active employee resource groups
• Paid time off for individual and team community service
• A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
• Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a salary grade 7-8 and ranges from $97,140-190,500.,

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
