Fee Insights builds fee explainability experiences that help merchants and internal teams understand what they're paying and why. We tackle this through agentic systems that provide natural language explanations grounded in canonical fee data, self-serve tooling, and also experiences that help users reconcile and understand complex pricing at scale.
Fee transparency and explainability are critical to merchant trust and satisfaction. As Stripe's product portfolio and pricing complexity has grown, helping users understand their fees—and how they align with their contract and product usage—has become increasingly important. We're solving fundamental questions around fee transparency, building the foundations that will scale across Stripe's merchant base.
As a Software Engineer on Fee Insights, you'll work on crafting billing-related experiences for both internal teams and external merchants. You'll partner closely with product teams to build reporting, dashboards, insights, and guided user journeys that help users interact with pricing and understand fees. You’ll be navigating one of Stripe's most complex domains, gaining deep end-to-end understanding of how Stripe works—from payments to pricing to billing.

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.
