Join Flint Hills Resources (FHR), a Koch Inc. company, as a Software Engineer on our HIPE (Highly Immersive Plant Experience) team, FHR's connected data platform for Operations. HIPE helps employees find, relate, visualize, and act on information from multiple enterprise systems through cross-application search, mobile-friendly experiences, workflow automation, and AI-enabled capabilities. In this role, you will build reliable full-stack software that turns fragmented data into intuitive experiences and helps transform how work is performed across FHR.

This role is located at our headquarters in Wichita, KS and offers a hybrid schedule, providing you with flexibility and work/life balance.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with product partners, business stakeholders, designers, analysts, and engineers to understand Operations processes and deliver practical, user-centered software solutions
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack HIPE capabilities that connect and contextualize enterprise data through web applications, APIs, cloud services, and graph-based data platforms
• Build intuitive, responsive experiences that enable cross-application search, related-data navigation, workflow automation, operational insights, and data visualization
• Develop AI-enabled experiences, including assistants, generated summaries, and planning tools, that help employees make informed decisions while maintaining data quality, security, and privacy
• Own solutions throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements refinement, implementation, automated testing, code reviews, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to a learning culture by providing constructive feedback, documenting and sharing knowledge, and evaluating emerging technologies that responsibly accelerate business transformation and engineering effectiveness

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications
• Experience developing software with TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or another modern programming language
• Experience building web applications or APIs and working with cloud platforms, serverless services, or comparable distributed systems
• Experience working with relational, document, or graph databases, including data modeling and querying
• Experience collaborating with technical and business partners to clarify requirements, communicate tradeoffs, and deliver solutions iteratively
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

• Full-stack TypeScript experience with React and Node.js, including modern state management, reusable component design, and schema-based validation
• Experience with AWS serverless architecture and infrastructure as code, such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, and SST or similar technologies
• Experience with graph databases and Cypher, enterprise API integration, cross-application search, or event-driven architecture
• Experience integrating large language models or AI agents into software products, such as Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, or similar services, with attention to grounding, evaluation, security, and responsible use
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, agile delivery, and collaborative development practices using Git and work-tracking tools
• Experience in energy, manufacturing, industrial operations, or delivering digital products that improve complex business work processes
