Job Description

The Software (CE-SW) group is responsible for developing and improving the software ecosystem around Arm's next-generation architectures and systems. This means working with processors and other hardware technology not yet available to the public. You will join a team of Software Engineers who share a passion for crafting what lies ahead in computing.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in enabling next-generation Arm architecture features across major open-source platforms such as Linux and Android.

You will partner with Arm hardware compose and chipset groups and upstream open-source communities. You will devise, put into action, and finalize influential changes that build the evolution of Arm-based systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of low-level software to integrate new Arm architecture improvements spanning Linux, Android, and related user-space components.
  • Contribute to the development and optimisation with a focus on performance, energy conservation, and protection.
  • Partner with teams specializing in Arm architecture and silicon to deliver and incorporate support for new architectural features.
  • Investigate sophisticated technical challenges across software layers, identifying root causes and leading resolution of performance, efficiency, and security issues.
  • Participate in code reviews on both internal and external forums.

Required Qualifications and Background:

  • Proficiency in C and C++, with a strong understanding of OS internals such as memory management, scheduling, or virtualisation.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and a structured approach to debugging sophisticated low-level software issues.
  • Shown experience in technical discussions, code reviews, and upstream teamwork in open-source projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; confident written and spoken English.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Android internals.
  • Familiarity with at least one CPU architecture, preferably Armv8-A or newer.
  • Basic experience with scripting languages and/or Python.
  • Curiosity about learning architecture-specific software development.
  • Familiarity with Rust or another memory-safe language.

In Return:

You will contribute at the forefront of Arm architecture innovation, collaborating with outstanding engineers on industry-defining technology. You’ll have the autonomy to determine technical direction, influence upstream ecosystems, and continuously improve how we work as an engineering organisation. Join us in building the future of computing by successfully implementing world-class solutions!

Please note that no relocation package is available for this role. If visa sponsorship is required, Arm will meet all costs associated with sponsorship for the employee only. All fees associated with any spouse/dependants, will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
