This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on industrial shopfloor systems, device integration, and custom application development. You will work on software that drives production equipment, supports label printing and RFID (radio-frequency identification) programming, and communicates with hardware using serial and TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) protocols at the binary level.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
Design, develop, test, maintain, and refactor complex software solutions across Windows, cloud, and desktop environments
Build software supporting customer order processing, label printing, manufacturing execution, shipping, and related workflows
Develop and maintain software that interfaces with production equipment and peripherals, including laser printers, inkjet printers, RFID programming stations, vision systems, and PLCs (programmable logic controllers)
Implement hardware communication protocols over serial ports and TCP/IP connections
Support industrial and distributed software systems that operate across multiple devices and tasks
Design complex software components and modules using agreed standards, patterns, and methodologies
Evaluate design options and trade-offs to deliver practical, robust solutions
Produce build definitions, perform system integration testing, and diagnose build and integration issues
Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to code quality and continuous improvement
Work with Structured Query Language (SQL) databases and data pipelines to ensure data is secure, accessible, and reliable
Support integrations with internal and external systems, including Representational State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), and GraphQL interfaces
Design and execute manual and automated test cases, define test plans and acceptance criteria, and report results, issues, and risks
Perform ad hoc technical missions as requested by management
What You Must have
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
Strong C# and the Microsoft .NET platform experience, including Windows application development
Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) experience
Solid experience with Git source versioning
Working knowledge of Test-Driven Development
Experience developing serial and TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) protocols
Experience with multitask application development
Experience with Inversion of Control patterns and dependency injection
Experience building custom, distributed, industrial software solutions
Experience developing applications that interact with hardware, peripherals, or production equipment
Fluent English with strong communication skills
Desirable Experience
