Job Description

The Software Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle design and development of real-time embedded and application software within an integrated team environment. You will demonstrate independence and sound technical judgement to execute assignments, take an innovative approach to problem-solving and share technical knowledge with others in the team and across the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Capture, understand and document the software requirements for assigned system functionality.

  • Create, update and maintain software architecture and designs for implementation in various languages (such as C, Ada, Assembler) dependent upon the power distribution and controllers system that meets standards and delivers desired functionality

  • Understand and implement software verification strategies

  • Create, update and perform software tests.

  • Work to rigorous development standards

  • Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

  • Author technical documentation as required and ensuring compliance with the relevant engineering policies and procedures and standards.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • A degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

  • Experience of the software design lifecycle within aerospace, automotive or similar embedded software development environment, this could have been gained through a placement / internship, or, from direct work experience Familiar with designing and implementing real-time embedded software.

  • Awareness of different software verification strategies and test equipment.

  • Ability to create, update and perform software tests.

  • Awareness of RTCA DO-178B/C, DAL level A or B, or similar.

  • Awareness of target hardware.

  • Ability to execute and solve problems autonomously.

  • Awareness of methods and practices such as Lean/Agile/XP, etc.

  • General understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life cycle.
