About the Role

Are you a software engineer looking to get deeply involved in systems engineering, embedded software, and cryptographic systems that directly support U.S. national security?

We are seeking a Software Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Software (CCSS) mission on the KG-3X program This program underpins critical communications used in the U.S. government’s Minimum Essential Emergency Communications Network and strategic command and control systems

You’ll work alongside highly experienced engineers and computer scientists delivering mission-critical capabilities for the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense.

What You’ll Do

• Perform software engineering, development, and maintenance across the full software lifecycle
• Design, implement, integrate, test, debug, and document embedded and system software
• Support software requirements analysis and system requirements documentation
• Configure, set up, test, and validate software development and test environments
• Maintain configuration management and support quality assurance processes
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and sustain existing systems and applications
• Collaborate with systems engineers and other developers in a secure environment

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development and maintenance
• Experience with systems engineering and software sustainment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Technical Experience

• C and C++ software development
• Software debugging, troubleshooting, testing, and optimization
• Real-Time Operating Systems ( RTOS) and Board Support Packages (BSPs)
• Serial communications (e.g., RS-232, USB, DS101, or similar)
• Technical writing for software and system requirements documentation

Preferred / Additional Skills

• C#, .NET development for custom tools and applications
• Experience with Simple Key Loader (SKL)
• Knowledge of cryptographic or key management systems
• Background in research analysis techniques and problem-solving in classified environments
