As a software engineer at Nira, you'll work on software and data products that our customers use every week. Your work will directly accelerate renewables getting built. This work could include rolling out new regions, adding new features or even building brand new products out.
Nira operates in the niche world of Grid Interconnection, which means as a SWE, you'll get to learn about how new renewables get connected to the grid. Day to day, you'll work very closely with Transmission Planning Engineers (TPEs) to get your job done. Both the SWEs and TPEs only have half the picture, so our teams have to be extremely cross-discipline and collaborative. Most teams are structured with 1 PM, 1 SWE and 1 TPE.
Most of the code you'll write will be python data pipelines. There is occasionally some frontend work as well (having FE experience is not a requirement). However, the SWEs that do best here are the ones that don't really care what part of the stack they're working on - they're just excited to be building products that help fix climate.

Nira is grid-planning software built for the clean energy transition.
Our platform helps developers, utilities, and grid operators make faster, more informed interconnection and transmission decisions by combining ISO-aligned modeling with powerful automation.
From siting new projects to navigating queue reforms and long-term planning, Nira provides clear visibility into available capacity, upgrade costs, and grid constraints across every major U.S. ISO.
Teams at AES, Cypress Creek, Invenergy, and many others use Nira to:
📍 Identify optimal points of interconnection
⚡ Evaluate interconnection costs and timelines
📊 Analyze upgrade risk and portfolio impacts
🧠 Replace slow, manual studies with automated results
Whether you're prospecting new sites or executing complex interconnection strategies, Nira helps you plan with confidence, and move faster in a changing grid.
