We are looking for a Software Engineer based in Latin America to work on a long-term project for one of our clients, an Online Audio and Video Media company, based in New York.

Our client delivers award-winning original reporting and sharp opinions from big personalities in the arenas of politics, pop culture, world news, and more. Fiercely independent and armed with irreverent intelligence, our client now reaches more than 20 million readers per month.

The person in this role will collaborate with product, design, and business teams to deliver successful projects, think like a Product Engineer, drive innovation, take ownership, enhance performance, suggest improved solutions, and simplify complex challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to the development team, guiding architectural decisions, coding best practices, and long-term technical strategy.
• Develop, review, and deploy production-ready code to enhance our client’s digital platforms.
• Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to create technically sound and user-friendly solutions.
• Ensure high-quality, timely feature delivery by managing project timelines, scope, and documentation.
• Work with various teams (product, design, growth, revenue, newsroom) to address key challenges effectively.
• Adhere to global security, accessibility, and privacy standards without hindering development speed.
• Continuously seek performance improvements, propose better approaches, and simplify complex problems.
• Prioritize solutions that bring real value over perfectionism or over-engineering.

Requirements

• Advanced Level of English.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated experience in leading development teams, managing technical projects, and coordinating cross-functional efforts.
• 5+ years of experience working with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience working with NodeJS.
• Experience developing apps from the ground up.
• Familiarity with Python for scripting purposes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Bonus Points

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related fields.
• Data-related experience, organizing data, and migrating from one technology to another.
• Familiarity with GCP.
