Headquartered in Oxnard, California, we support critical Navy missions nationwide and offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Job Description:

JSL is seeking a Software Documentation and Lab Verification Specialist to support Navy software systems, technical documentation, laboratory verification, and fleet readiness operations at Port Hueneme, CA.

This hands-on position combines technical writing and editing with software testing, system validation, and In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA) support. You'll work alongside technical teams to ensure documentation and procedures are accurate, systems function as intended, and fleet operations remain mission-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate source materials and proposed changes for impacts on existing documents and ensure accuracy, consistency, readability, and compliance with Government requirements.

  • Software & Systems Support: Install, configure, maintain, and test software in computer lab environments. Verify system integration, troubleshoot software/hardware anomalies, and document test results and engineering recommendations.
  • Fleet & Field Support: Assist with planned and emergent shipboard or waterfront operations, system troubleshooting, modernization efforts, and ISEA fleet readiness activities.
  • Program Coordination: Participate in weekly project meetings, provide technical status updates, and prepare PowerPoint presentations as needed. Ensure work aligns with Government direction, security requirements, program schedules, and ISEA objectives.
  • Travel: Support CONUS/OCONUS assignments as required, including shipboard installation and ISEA events lasting approximately 2–4 weeks.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong technical editing skills and attention to detail when reviewing, revising, and validating technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and electronics.
  • Ability to follow and execute technical procedures in laboratory, simulated, or shipboard environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with technical teams, Government personnel, and program stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for planned and emergent field assignments, including shipboard and waterfront support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating environments.
  • Knowledge of Tomahawk systems or related Navy combat systems.
  • Previous experience with Navy programs, shipboard operations, ISEA, combat systems, systems engineering, laboratory testing, software verification, or technical documentation.
  • Experience developing or updating technical manuals, installation guides, test procedures, training materials, or software release documentation.
  • Experience with software installation, lab verification, test-case execution, or system integration.
  • Experience participating in weekly project meetings and delivering technical status updates.
  • Ability to support laboratory, waterfront, SWEF, and shipboard environments as needed.
