What you'll do as a Software Development Specialist 3:

  • Performs impacts analyses to identify interdependencies.

  • Assist with design reviews.

  • Creates detailed test designs & test plans.

  • Coordinates execution of unit & system test scripts, debugging efforts & defect tracking, support of user acceptance testing, & software implementation & deployment tasks.

  • Leads the development, implementation & monitoring of IT quality assurance standards & testing.

Qualifications

Option 1:

60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

Option 2:

Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems

AND 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

Option 3:

Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems;

AND 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

  • This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). Whoever fills this position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.
