Job Description

Amazon Last Mile Technology (LMT) is hiring for a single threaded Software Development Manager to lead a new and fast growing program with broad reaching and global impact. LMT is the team that enables super-fast delivery for Amazon. We build products and technology that enables the stations and drivers to deliver your packages, food, and restaurant deliveries from their last stop to your home.

Our team is seeking a talented SDM to lead a large team responsible for building many of the core foundational services used in Amazon's delivery stations. The scope and impact of this team's work is massive, with great opportunities for growth and ownership. You'll have the chance to work across multiple technologies and utilize these to innovate and push forward the frontier of logistics.

The successful candidate is expected to be a hands-on technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all phases of the software development life-cycle including: design, development, documentation, testing, experimentation, and operations. We're looking for passionate people who love to innovate and care deeply about creating the best quality experiences to our customers.

Your day will be a dynamic blend of strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and technological innovation. Expect to dive into data-driven decision-making, prototype AI-powered tools to boost developer productivity, and develop products that directly impact the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of our package sortation operations. You'll balance operational excellence—maintaining 99.95%+ uptime for mission-critical services—with forward-thinking innovation that shapes the future of sortation.

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
