As a Software Development Manager in Retail Business Services, you'll lead initiatives that transform how we handle catalog management, supply chain optimization, and retail operations. Your day might include collaborating with engineers to design scalable platforms that leverage machine learning and large language models, meeting with product and business stakeholders to align on technical strategy, and removing blockers that help your team move faster. You'll dive deep into architectural decisions, mentor your engineers through complex technical challenges, and coordinate across multiple teams to deliver solutions that automate processes currently requiring significant human effort. You'll balance strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving, ensuring your team ships high-quality systems that serve both internal operations teams and external business partners.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and develop a software engineering team through the full development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, documentation, and operations, while establishing high standards for quality and technical rigor
- Design and coordinate complex technical initiatives that automate large-scale retail processes, working across engineering, product, business, and operations teams to align on strategy and execution
- Architect scalable solutions that leverage machine learning, generative AI, and big data technologies to solve business problems, with a focus on building reusable platforms that support multiple use cases
- Identify and remove technical and organizational roadblocks that impede progress, while fostering an environment where your team can innovate and deliver results in a fast-paced setting
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business impact and ensuring alignment across dependencies

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
