The Application Development Manager leads a team responsible for delivering, supporting, and modernizing business applications for PACCAR Financial. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, IT leaders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and value-driven technology solutions. The manager is accountable for team leadership, Agile delivery execution, application quality, operational stability, and continuous improvement of development practices.

Division Information

PACCAR Financial facilitates the sale of premium-quality PACCAR vehicles in 20 countries on three continents worldwide by offering a full spectrum of creative, flexible financial products and value-added services specifically tailored to the transportation industry.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

A successful candidate will be highly self-directed, an excellent problem-solver, and able to work with all levels of the organization. This position may support business partners using 24x7 applications that require on-call responsibilities

  • Through continuous customer interaction, develop an understanding of PACCAR Financial business drivers, financial services processes, operational priorities, and business partner needs.
  • Manage project pipeline and prioritization, collaborating with peer managers, business stakeholders, and IT leadership on resource allocation and delivery capacity.
  • Keep abreast of information technologies, solutions and vendors that could be applied to address business needs.
  • Develop recommendations, plans and strategies to address identified business needs while effectively applying IT solutions that consider security, audit, operational risk, supportability, and business continuity requirements.
  • Project management responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, creating and managing project plans; managing customer requirements; managing projects to completion including budgeting, schedule and deliverables; coordinating with Corporate Purchasing, Legal, Security, vendors, and business partners as appropriate; communicating project status at all levels within the organization; and coordinating product turnover.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor analysts, developers, and delivery team members in business partnership, stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, solution delivery, vendor engagement, and project execution
  • Partner with PACCAR Financial, Corporate IT, external vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure application solutions are reliable, secure, supportable, and aligned with financial services business objectives
  • Create and execute product deployment; business integration, and project proof of concepts, as required; and research emerging technology and related best industry practices
  • Encourage adoption of modern development practices, including automation, reusable patterns, and responsible use of AI-enabled development tools where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ related work experience to include staff management, large scope project management, and industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute effectively, achieve results, make progress, and apply creativity and resourcefulness to business and technology challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Agile delivery teams, manage backlog priorities, improve team throughput, and support predictable delivery of high-quality business solutions.
  • Strong project leadership skills include driving for results, communicating with all levels of management, exceptional presentation skills, budget/schedule/resource control, risk management, stakeholder management, requirements management, and scope management.
  • Proven skills in developing global systems roadmap and IT strategy for business functions.
  • Ability to quickly understand business drivers and processes to gain credibility with business leadership.
  • Solid understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent understanding and ability to work collaboratively with business partners and processes.
  • Familiarity with various application platforms including Mainframe, Windows and Unix.
  • Familiarity with modern and legacy application platforms and languages (.NET, C++, VB6, COBOL), including Microsoft technologies, cloud/SaaS platforms, integration technologies, and enterprise legacy systems.
  • Candidates will also be PC proficient (MS Project and Office), possess strong analytical skills, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have proven written and verbal communication skills.

Education

BA/BS degree required; master’s degree desired.
