Job Description

The Device Cloud Services organization (DCS) is specialized in building foundational platform solutions that cater to a number of critical customer experiences. We are the cloud platform solution provider for the Device businesses ranging from the E-Reader to Echo Family of Devices and expanding into third-party devices that connect to Amazon eco-system.

We are hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team that owns the services and device components for the Frustration Free Setup. This team will own and maintain device components as well as the cloud infrastructure responsible for several aspects of the out-of-box experience of Amazon devices.

You have a track record of quickly ramping up on complex technical systems, demonstrating strong judgment, and identifying big picture opportunities for our customers. You have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver results

Key job responsibilities
The role will require you to build and own software on a variety of different technology stacks from backend services to Amazon Devices that range IoT platforms to Multimedia devices, and work closely with partners that integrate with the components the team owns (device firmware, and multiple large-scale services).

Basic Qualifications


- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, e.g. Java, Python, C#, or C++

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
- Experience building distributed systems Experience with iOS and Android mobile app development
