• Hold regular one-to-ones, provide clear feedback, support career development, and manage individual performance.

• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and team-building activities.

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Remain technically hands-on through solution design, code reviews, troubleshooting, prototyping, and direct code contributions where appropriate.

• Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, QA, architecture, and engineering leadership to understand priorities and shape the technical roadmap.

• Translate business requirements and roadmap objectives into clear technical plans, estimates, milestones, and deliverable engineering tasks.

• Own team delivery, ensuring commitments are realistic, progress is visible, blockers are removed, and outcomes are aligned with business goals.

• Guide technical decisions to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural direction.

• Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, observability, and production readiness.

• Build, review, and maintain robust software supporting new and existing platform features.

• Lead production rollout readiness, support post-release issue resolution, and drive root-cause analysis for defects or incidents.

• Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and supportability across the team’s areas of ownership.

• Identify and implement process improvements that increase team effectiveness, delivery quality, and engineering maturity.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Experience: 5+ years leading or managing software engineering teams, with 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Required Leadership Experience

• HTTP APIs and service-oriented or distributed systems.

• Message queues, service buses, asynchronous processing, or event-driven systems.

• Unit testing and modern engineering practices.

• Experience working in Agile delivery teams.

Desirable Experience

• Payments, FX, fintech, banking, or regulated financial services.

• Legacy modernization involving VB.NET, VB6, or older .NET Framework systems.

• Front-end development using React, Blazor, or similar frameworks.

• Third-party integrations and vendor platforms.

• Performance tuning, observability, monitoring, and production support.

Abilities & Attributes

• Strong technical judgement, with a solid understanding of software design principles, distributed systems, and scalable application architecture.

• A product-oriented mindset, with the ability to understand business problems and translate them into practical technical solutions.

• Strong ownership of code quality, testing, maintainability, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

• Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with people management and delivery leadership.

• Comfortable reducing ambiguity, scoping requirements, estimating work, and guiding teams through complex delivery challenges.

• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineers in a collaborative team environment.

• Clear communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to challenge existing processes constructively.
