We are seeking a forward-thinking Software Development Manager to help shape the next chapter of our technology landscape. This is a key role where you’ll combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic input, driving modernization and evolution within IT systems.
Working alongside an existing Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a talented team, champion innovation, and deliver high-quality software and solutions that enables the business to move faster, work smarter, and improve customer outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and develop the software development team, including contractors.
Architect and design modern, scalable applications, and integrations, transitioning from legacy systems where possible and appropriate.
Design and deliver robust, secure, and high-performing software solutions and integrations.
Work with stakeholders and change teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Promote and implement best practice in coding standards, security, performance, and DevOps.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently and support continuous improvement.
Stay current with emerging technologies and drive improvement and innovation within the team.
What We’re Looking For
· Degree educated in IT / Computer Science or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience in a Software Development Manager or similar leadership role.
· Strong experience managing and developing technical teams.
· Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL.
· Background in modernising legacy applications and systems.
· Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
