Global PACCAR Electronics is looking for curious and motivated students who are passionate about new technologies and interested in automotive embedded systems to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program

Our teams offer meaningful independence and project ownership, giving interns a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in embedded software development. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, quick to adapt, and an effective, collaborative communicator.

What to Expect

• Internships are in-person for 40 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks
• Location: Lewisville, TX
• Start Date: May 18, 2026 or June 22, 2026
• Visa Sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, TN, OPT, etc.) is not available for this position

About Global PACCAR Electronics

Global PACCAR Electronics organization, which serves Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF, is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way control systems and software are developed for commercial vehicle applications. Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, safety engineers, and other professionals to ensure quality commercial electric vehicle designs and systems integration.
• Follow project management processes to maintain schedule and functionality
• Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, and exceeded on all components.
• Analyze system needs and requirements to influence system architecture designs.
• Develop and document engineering specifications for new vehicle control functions, including autonomous vehicles.
• Drive collaborative efforts effectively with cross-divisional counterparts on global design direction.
• Support validation activities across supplier and internal teams to ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, or exceeded on all components and systems.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate a high level of independence, motivation, and excellent analytical and written communication skills, alongside sound engineering judgment.
• Exceptional organizational, and problem-solving skills and a drive to develop innovative solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, lean, collaborative team environment.
• Competency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
• Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues.
• Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work.
• Willingness to grow continuously, both personally and professionally with strong results and goal-driven orientation.

Education

Third or fourth year of bachelor’s degree completed (graduation date 2026 – 2027) in one of the following STEM disciplines: Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Mechanical), Science, or related field.

Desired Attributes

• Master’s program preferred.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB/Simulink, C++, C#, etc.).
• Demonstratable ability to analyze hardware and firmware designs.
• Active participant in a university-sponsored engineering club (Ecocar, Formula SAE, SARP, Etc.).
• Understanding of complex design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality.

• The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hour (pay varies by undergraduate and graduate degree).
