Job Description

Do you want to revolutionize how millions of Amazonians worldwide receive HR support? Are you passionate about building intelligent, AI-powered solutions that transform employee experiences? Do you want to work on a platform that combines AWS services with generative AI to deliver personalized, efficient HR support at Amazon scale? If so, we invite you to join the PXT Case Management team within HR Experience and Technologies org.

Key job responsibilities

You will collaborate with senior engineers (SDE-IIIs and L5s) to implement components of our 3-year architecture plans while gaining deeper understanding of system design and architectural patterns. You'll be responsible for driving individual projects from design to delivery, making data-driven decisions to balance technical debt with business needs. You will have opportunities to mentor SDE-I engineers on coding practices and technical implementation while receiving mentorship from senior team members to grow your technical and leadership skills. You'll work closely with SDMs and PMs to break down complex requirements into executable tasks and contribute to technical discussions that shape team-level solutions. Additionally, you'll be expected to demonstrate ownership of your work by maintaining high standards for code quality, participating in on-call rotations, and continuously improving our operational excellence.

A day in the life

  • Write maintainable, well-structured, and testable code to advance your in-flight project and submit a code review to the team
  • Design a system to solve an Amazon scale problem and present a design document to the team to build consensus on your recommended approach
  • Attend a team-level operations review meeting to understand system health and identify actions we need to take to keep the system available for our clients
  • Meet with a customer to understand the problems they are facing, brainstorm solutions, and discuss with your management to affect team priorities
  • Review a teammate's code change and raise the bar on team code quality by providing insightful comments
  • Research new technologies that could help simplify your team's system and draft a message to the team with your findings
  • Root cause and resolve a trouble ticket filed by a customer of your system
  • Attend a one to one meeting with your manager to receive support on your work and discuss career development

About the team

PXT Case Management System (PXT CMS) is Amazon's first-party HR case management platform, launched in 2022. It powers HR support for more than 1.5 million Amazonians worldwide - corporate, operations, and everything in between. Every day the platform processes over 120,000 new cases and 700,000 updates across 23+ HR business domains, from onboarding and leave to benefits and payroll.

We are building the next generation of the platform: an AI-native case orchestration system that lets HR business teams automate routine work through configurable workflows and AI agent skills, so advisors and HR partners can spend their time on the moments that need human judgment.

We are a senior, engineering-driven team with a strong bias for ownership, deep customer empathy, and craft. We move fast, dive deep on hard problems, and treat AI as a first-class tool for reshaping how HR support gets delivered at Amazon scale.

About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.

Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.

You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
