We’relooking for React Native engineers to help build products used by millions of customers every day.

You’llwork on high-impact features, contribute to our cross-platform direction, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineers. The team is actively evolving how it builds, so there’srealopportunity to influence both the technical direction and the way we work.

Day to day,you’llbe turning ideas into simple, fast, and reliable mobile experiences. That includes building new features, improvingwhat’salready there, and making sure everything scales and performs well in real-world conditions.

The focus is straightforward:buildthings that work well,holdup at scale, and genuinelymakelife easier for customers.

Project spotlight: Whoosh (Tesco UK rapid delivery)

You may join work on Whoosh, Tesco’s market-leading rapid grocery delivery service in the UK.

  • Operates from 1,600 stores

  • Reaches 70%+ of UK households

  • Delivers in 20–30 minutes

  • Offers a significantly larger range than typical rapid delivery apps (2,500–4,500 products)

Whoosh is already embedded in the Tesco mobile app used across markets, including Hungary (currently turned off locally). While the app is native today (iOS and Android),we’reshifting towards React Native with Expo.

This createsa great opportunityto:

  • Build new features in React Native from scratch

  • Gradually migrate existing native functionality where it makes sense

  • Help shape how a large-scale app evolves towards a cross-platform setup

You’llbe joining a mixed team of experienced web, iOS, and Android engineers, many of whom are transitioning into React Native. Because of this, a big part of the role is helping raise the bar and shape how the team works across platforms over time.

Initially, your focus will be on React Native. Over time,you’llalso contribute to delivering features across both web and mobile, helping us keep the experience aligned across platforms.

You will be responsible for
  • Build high-quality mobile features using React Native (+ Expo)
  • Help shape architectural decisions for cross-platform development
  • Balance speed and quality while delivering customer-facing value
  • Collaborate across mobile, web, and platform teams
  • Tackle real-world mobile challenges—performance, device fragmentation, network constraints
  • Prototype, iterate, and turn ideas into production-ready features
  • Support and mentor teammates as the team grows into a cross-platform model

You will need
  • Strong experience building production React Native applications
  • Comfortable working across both mobile and web when needed, or open to picking it up
  • Confidence designing and scaling complex mobile architectures
  • Solid understanding of mobile platform constraints and trade-offs
  • Experience working with GraphQL APIs
  • Awareness of mobile accessibility best practices
  • Comfortable working across the full development lifecycle (design → build → release → iterate)
  • Familiarity with Agile / Lean environments (TDD, BDD, etc. are a plus)
  • A proactive mindset—ownership, curiosity, and a drive to improve things
