Our team is looking for passionate, experienced software developer who can deliver high quality platform solutions to support our customers (buyers and merchants) enabling "Amazon Pay" to scale as the universal wallet for all of Amazon buyers.
As an engineer in Amazon Pay, you will be part of a dynamic team working on complex problems innovating on behalf of our customers. As an SDE II, you will play a key role in building a world-class, frictionless payments solution and merchant experience that helps us scale while retaining customer and merchant trust.

Key job responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality platform solutions supporting diverse customer and merchant use cases for Amazon Pay
- Develop and enhance web-based applications and web services that enable third-party merchants to integrate Amazon Pay
- Design and build large-scale, distributed systems to handle high-volume transactions in a 24/7 environment
- Contribute to the architecture, design, and evolution of new and existing systems focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance
About the team
AmazonPay, one of the fastest growing businesses of Amazon, enables e-commerce websites to accept, and customers to utilise the payment information stored in their Amazon.com accounts to pay for goods and services at sites off-Amazon. AmazonPay also enables customers to manage their account preferences and see their off-Amazon transactions. Hundreds of thousands of Users make millions of transactions worldwide on AmazonPay. We develop software at every level of the stack from front-end user interfaces to backend server software and everything in between.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
