Job Description

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our Ads/Merchandising engineering team in Mexico City. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and delivering scalable, low-latency systems that power device discovery and purchase experiences across Amazon's e-commerce channels.

In this role, you will own features end-to-end -- from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support. You will build the services and tools behind personalization, multivariate testing, bundles, upsells, and installment options that drive incremental device sales for Echo, Fire TV, Ring, Kindle, and more. You'll drive architecture decisions for critical systems, evaluating complex business and technical requirements and communicating tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You'll collaborate directly with product, UX, and data science to turn ambiguous customer problems into shipped experiments with measurable impact. You own what you build -- monitoring production systems, responding to operational issues, and continuously improving availability and performance. You'll also raise the engineering bar through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship of junior engineers.

About the team
The Device Sales and Customer Experience (DSCX) organization develops platforms and programs that elevate device sales and customer engagement across e-commerce channels. As the technical arm of the Devices Online Sales and Marketing group, our mission is to build systems that help customers discover, choose, purchase, and use Amazon Devices. We own the worldwide technology powering detailed product pages, warranties, trade-in programs, subscription experiences, marketing automation, and cross-channel analytics. We are actively investing in AI/ML-driven experiences including personalization, generative content, and autonomous operations.

This is a full-ownership team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We foster a culture of innovation, encouraging cross-team partnerships to drive impactful results while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.

About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.

Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.

You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
