Your Role

We're on the hunt for an experienced, self-driven developer to join our product team as a fully remote team member based in the Philippines. You'll take ownership of features from design to deployment on a product people love and rely on — working independently on complex tasks across a codebase spanning Go, C++, and TypeScript, reviewing and assisting teammates, and helping shape how we build software.

You'll have a lot of variety in your day: end-to-end feature delivery, hard debugging across platforms, design discussions, and code reviews — all within a team that thrives on solving hard problems and delivering high-quality features our customers enjoy.

What you'll bring

If you have experience in some of the following, we'd love to hear from you:

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, particularly with Golang, TypeScript, or C++

• A track record of designing, building, testing, and maintaining complex software systems independently

• Strong knowledge of Git and Agile project management practices

• Building desktop applications for macOS, Linux, or Windows (experience with Qt is a plus)

• macOS development, deployment, or system management

• Windows system administration (Active Directory, Azure, Intune, etc.) or experience with Windows Kernel APIs

• Working with virtualized environments like VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or Docker

• Managing and scaling cloud platforms (AWS, etc.)

• Designing and optimizing databases like MySQL and MongoDB

• Excellent written English and the communication habits that make remote collaboration work: clear PRs, proactive status updates, and raising issues early

One thing we do expect rather than hope for: fluency with AI-assisted development. AI coding tools (agents and assistants like Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor) are core to how we build, and you should already be using them daily — with the judgment to review, test, and own everything they help you produce, and the enthusiasm to help raise the bar for how the whole team uses them.

Your Impact in the First 180 Days

We don't believe in endless checklists of requirements. Instead, here's what success might look like in your first 6 months:

• 30 Days: You've completed onboarding and gained a solid understanding of our technology stack. Contribute by delivering smaller tasks, resolving bugs, and assisting with support tickets.

• 60 Days: You've developed familiarity with several key areas of Comet. You've begun delivering end-to-end features of moderate complexity.

• 120 Days: You've taken ownership of features from design to deployment and are comfortable navigating our code base and CI/CD processes.

• 180 Days: You're consistently contributing on complex features and infrastructure improvements, reviewing teammates' work, and helping shape how we build software through better code patterns, documentation, automated tests, and smarter use of AI tooling.

You'll thrive here if you enjoy taking ownership, working independently while staying visible to your team, and spotting possibilities for improvements. You might struggle here if you require constant guidance, or find it challenging to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities.

How We Work

• Team & Collaboration: You'll work fully remotely, joining a globally remote team based (with most based in Christchurch). The Philippines time zone sits just 4–5 hours behind New Zealand, so your core morning hours overlap naturally with the team's afternoons — we'll agree on a schedule with solid daily overlap.

• Process: The team follows a Scrum-based process with daily standup, weekly iterations and regular retros — all remote-friendly.

• Current Team Structure: Joining a team with 1 x Team Lead + 4 x Software Developers.

• Tooling & Stack: Go (golang), C++, TypeScript, PHP, Qt, React, Git, Sikuli, Playwright, Podman (Docker), Cygwin.

• AI-Assisted Development: AI coding tools are a standard part of our daily workflow — for implementation, tests, and review preparation. Developers are expected to drive them effectively and take full ownership of the quality of everything that ships.

• Collaboration & Documentation: Our developers contribute to technical specs where needed, share knowledge during code reviews and retros, and work closely with peers.

• Ownership & Autonomy: Our developers are trusted to take ownership of their work. Whether you're leading a feature, refactoring, or solving a customer issue, you're given full autonomy — with direct access to product, support, and leadership.

Your Hiring Experience

All interviews are held remotely via video call.

1. Screening Interview (30–45 min): An informal conversation with our talent acquisition team to get to know each other — your background, motivation, and aspirations, plus a clear overview of WebPros, the team setup, and the process.

2. Technical Home Assignment: A short task to evaluate practical skills and approach to problem-solving.

3. Assignment Follow-up (45–60 min) You'll meet with Darwin Dingel (Software Development Team Lead) and one or two team members to discuss your solution and some general technical questions.

4. Final Interview (45–60 min): A broader conversation about team culture and ways of working with Callum Sinclair (Product Engineering Manager) and Darwin Dingel.

5. Offer Talk (30 min): A final conversation with Callum Sinclair to walk through the offer, discuss any remaining questions, and ensure mutual clarity on expectations and next steps.
