Software Developer - Production IT

Do you see yourself in a key role where your fingerprints will be on the next generation of business-critical production IT systems(MES)? If so, you might be our next Software Developer.

In this role, you will be a key player in creating a modern platform for our production sites. You’ll work closely with other developers, business consultants and solutions architect to build solutions which turn real-world challenges into smarter ways of working on the shop floor, while creating transparency of operations through data.

With sustainability, digitization, and operational excellence at the core, Danish Crown is undergoing an ambitious business transformation. Our department is the go-to partner when we innovate in one of our 50+ production sites - whether it's introducing new processes or technologies, increasing automation, replacing legacy systems, enhancing traceability with data, or tackling other complex challenges. We take ownership from start to finish - analyzing needs, proposing solutions, creating functional descriptions, and delivering full-scale development and implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop projects and major/minor changes, from POC to full product deployment
  • Drive standardization and modernization of in-house MES platform
  • Work closely with other developers, architects and consultants to design and build solutions for our abattoirs.
  • Develop front end shop-floor clients as well as back-end services
  • Develop interfaces to 3rd party hardware and machinery.
  • Participate in test and verification of our deliverables as well as support during go-live
  • Ensure that the solutions function correctly according to scope

The ideal candidate

  • Has strong collaboration skills – to build trust, and create engagement with team colleagues, system- and business consultants.
  • Is confident with both hands-on tasks and software design in a production IT context
  • Knows how to translate business requirements into software solutions that deliver real value
  • Thrives in cross-functional teams and collaborative environments
  • Stays focused and committed to deliver reliable and strong code – even when facing changing requirements, in a dynamic setting
  • Brings a proactive mindset, takes ownership, and drives progress.
  • Toolbox will include, C#.NET, MS SQL, Azure DevOps, GIT, Agile, containerization, etc.
  • Is interested in exploring technical solutions (IT/MES, OT (PLC, SCADA), etc.)
  • Is fluent in English and working knowledge in Danish

German language skills are considered an advantage, but not a requirement.

What do we offer?
We offer flexibility in work hours and place, autonomy, and the chance to work in a team with great ambitions to digitalize and improve the shop floor. We care about your growth and career goals, and we’ll have an active focus on supporting your development.

We value a flat and informal culture where all voices matter and contributions are expected and appreciated – because the best solutions are created together, with close collaboration between IT and the business. You will have the opportunity to influence and shape our production systems and see the results from slaughtering all the way to the consumer.

Our modern HQ in Randers offers excellent facilities, including a fitness centre, two padel courts, a food shop, and - of course - a great canteen with high-quality food (unsurprisingly!).

Your department: Production – Part of Global IT
You will be part of an informal yet highly professional environment that values mutual trust, respect, responsibility, humor, and good manners.

Production is part of Danish Crown’s Global IT department, headquartered in Randers. Global IT operates as a global IT competence centre for both new and existing solutions, with more than 270 colleagues located in Denmark, Poland, Sweden, and Germany – approximately 150 of whom are based at our Randers HQ.

You will be part of a team of consultants and developers working on systems that keep production running efficiently and provide critical data and traceability – turning operational complexity into actionable insight. We are on a journey to simplify and standardise our production IT landscape, and we are looking for someone who wants to help shape that future.

Your workplace will be at Danish Crown Vej 1, Randers but expect approx. 10-30 travel days as projects require on-site presence.

Appetite for more?
You are welcome to contact Troels Hansen, Senior Manager Software Engineering, Global IT, Production on +45 2015 4994 if you have any questions or if you want to know more about the position.

Send your CV and your application as soon as possible, but no later than January 12th, 2026 Interviews will be held on an ongoing basis.

We look forward to hearing from you!
