Job Description

At Arctic Wolf, you won’t just watch the cybersecurity industry evolve – you'll help lead the change. Our global Pack is made up of people who thrive on solving hard problems, moving fast, and building technology that protects organizations around the world. We’re proud to be recognized by Forbes, CNBC, Fortune, CRN, Gartner Peer Insights and IDC MarketScape – but what matters most is the work behind it: delivering real outcomes for customers through award winning innovation like our Aurora Platform.

If you’re looking for meaningful work, smart teammates and the chance to make a real impact in a high-growth company that’s redefining security operations, Arctic Wolf is the right place for you!

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Software Developer to be part of making this happen.

Position Overview and Objective

As a Developer for Arctic Wolf’s Data Platform, you’ll work on the team that focuses on building the systems that enable the storage and rapid searching of cybersecurity data. This telemetry data is collected from customers by leveraging endpoint, network, and cloud data sources both inside and outside our customers’ networks. Our team designs, builds, and manages large-scale systems that allow both our customers and our employees to leverage these various data sets to better understand and improve security posture.

You’ll work at the intersection of big data, distributed computing, and cloud technologies. Our existing stacks include both custom-built and open-source components written in Python, Go, or Java, deployed within Amazon Web Services. We leverage Kubernetes and other containerized platforms. Some major components we use include Kafka, Elasticsearch, Databricks, and Spark, along with various other components and additional custom application services developed in-house.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation and design of new data storage and search solutions, taking customer requirements into account.
  • Maintain and enhance our existing Python, Go, and Java-based systems.
  • Deploy, configure, and support open-source components and platform services.
  • Take ownership of features and services from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities within assigned areas and work with senior engineers to address them.
  • Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify ambiguities, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Improve our capabilities to operate, monitor, and scale systems reliably as we grow.
  • Contribute to software quality through automated testing, code reviews, observability, and operational excellence practices.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing through documentation, technical discussions, design reviews, and incident investigations.

Experience & Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience working on backend systems or distributed applications.
  • Excited about working in the big data space and learning large-scale data platform technologies.
  • Relevant experience with Python, Go, Java, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience working with RESTful API interfaces and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases; familiarity with joins, aggregations, query tuning, and troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Exposure to Elasticsearch DSL or similar query languages and search technologies.
  • Experience working within containerized environments and platforms such as Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Amazon ECS, or Docker.
  • Experience with columnar and/or time-series databases (e.g. Databricks, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, etc).
  • Exposure to Amazon Web Services and cloud-native technologies.
  • Understanding of software quality practices including automated testing, code reviews, observability, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and habitually share knowledge through collaboration and documentation.

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Understanding of query execution and optimization concepts, including query planning, partition pruning, indexing strategies, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience with modern data lake and analytics technologies such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Databricks, Trino, Spark, or similar large-scale data processing and query platforms.
  • Experience with message queue systems such as Amazon SQS, Kafka, or similar technologies.

On-Camera Policy

To support a fair, transparent, and engaging interview experience, candidates interviewing remotely are expected to be on camera during all video interviews. Being on camera fosters authentic connection, improves communication, and allows for full engagement from both candidates and interviewers. We understand that technical, bandwidth, or location-related challenges may occasionally prevent video use. If this applies, candidates are required to notify us in advance so we can explore appropriate accommodations.
