The IC3 Software Development Engineer (SDE) role is integral to the success and scalability of the Oracle Cloud Escalations and Notifications (OCEAN) service, a mission-critical platform supporting real-time incident management and operational alerting across cloud environments. This role emphasizes backend development and requires candidates capable of independently designing, implementing, and optimizing complex features within scalable, cloud-based systems. The position demands proficiency in building robust APIs and backend services, ensuring OCEAN remains a high-performing and reliable solution for internal and external users. Strong operational expertise is essential, including the ability to set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, implement monitoring tools for distributed systems (e.g., structured logging, metrics, and Grafana dashboards), and troubleshoot effectively to ensure operational excellence.

A deep understanding of distributed systems is critical for maintaining the scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability of OCEAN, as the service processes large volumes of data and integrates with other critical platforms. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimize workflows, and enhance system resiliency. Clean, maintainable coding practices are highly valued, as is the ability to proactively improve engineering standards, processes, and tooling to meet the evolving demands of the OCEAN service. Strong communication skills are essential, as the position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery of new features.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner, capable of making impactful contributions to OCEAN from day one. Additionally, experience with app development, particularly in UX or mobile platforms, is a strong plus, as it aligns with OCEAN’s goal to expand its reach and deliver intuitive user experiences. Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality software components as part of the O
• Work with technical leads to ensure new capabilities are built with right design principles
• Work with remote and geographically distributed teams to operate complex cloud systems including participation in on-call rotation and related operational activities
• Ready to learn and jump into new areas and domains
• Participate in hiring and mentoring new team members to support growth objectives

Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Proven experience implementing, and operating large scale cloud services
• Strong proficiency in Java and related technologies. Python experience is also desired.
• Cloud development experience on one of the major platforms (Oracle, AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and best practices.
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools for managing distributed systems
• Familiarity with DevOps automation and tools for continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Prometheus).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
