About this Role

SOFTWARE ARCHITECT

Location: Katy, TX — In Office Schedule: Monday–Friday | Core hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Office: 15011 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094 Experience: 8+ years Work Authorization: QISG does not offer visa sponsorship of any kind for this position. QISG is seeking a Software Architect to help lead software engineering excellence and develop technical solutions that drive the organization’s AI transformation.

This is a senior, hands-on architecture role for someone who can move comfortably between technical strategy, software architecture, hands-on development, and business engagement You will lead complex and high-impact initiatives, establish engineering standards, mentor technical team members, and help shape how AI-powered solutions are designed, deployed, and maintained across QISG.

You will work directly with QISG executives, business leaders, project managers, and field personnel, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions. Strong communication and the ability to make complex technical concepts accessible to non-technical stakeholders are essential.

What You'll Do

  • Lead high-priority AI and software engagements from discovery and scoping through delivery and implementation.
  • Define and maintain reference architectures, deployment standards, evaluation frameworks, and reusable technical accelerators.
  • Establish engineering standards for code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, on-call, and incident response.
  • Build and architect full-stack solutions spanning data, backend, frontend, integrations, and AI capabilities.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines that support reliable deployment of production-ready applications.
  • Establish standards and tools that improve developer productivity and solution quality.
  • Design observability and monitoring for AI-powered applications.
  • Mentor engineers through technical reviews, pair programming, code reviews, and structured development.
  • Partner with executives and business leaders to identify opportunities where technology can deliver measurable business value.
  • Continuously improve the technical maturity, scalability, security, and maintainability of QISG’s AI solutions.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, ML/AI engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including version control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and production-quality development.
  • Strong programming skills in modern languages used for AI solutions, such as Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Working knowledge of enterprise security, data classification, identity and access management, and AI-specific risks.
  • Experience with modern AI technologies, including LLMs, agents, RAG, context engineering, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development
  • Experience scaling software solutions from proof of concept through enterprise deployment.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder technical engagements from discovery through delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable business impact through technology.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and executive audiences.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers.

Preferred

  • 3+ years in a customer-facing, deployed, or forward-engineering capacity.
  • Experience in EPC, infrastructure, utilities, energy, construction, or another field-based industry
  • Experience scaling forward-deployed or customer engineering practices.
  • Experience designing reusable platforms, agents, or internal technical accelerators.
  • Experience with Anthropic / Claude tooling, including Claude API, Claude Code, or Claude in Excel.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

  • Lead at least two AI engagements from discovery through handoff.
  • Deliver measurable business impact through each engagement.
  • Establish strong working relationships with technical and business stakeholders.

First 6 Months

  • Establish a reusable engagement playbook and accelerator library.
  • Deliver scalable tools that business and technical teams can own and enhance.
  • Build relationships across multiple QISG business units.
  • Demonstrate measurable growth among engineers you mentor.
  • Help establish consistent software engineering and AI development standards across the team.
