Technical Product Owner Senior

Requirements

Must have

Experience: 5+ years in forward deployed engineering, product management, functional consulting, business systems analysis, solution delivery, or a comparable enterprise applications role.

Platform and domain expertise: Strong functional knowledge of Encompass Production Cloud and Vintrace, with an understanding of Wine & Spirits operations and farm-to-bottle processes.

Agile and Jira: Practical knowledge of Agile principles and demonstrated experience managing Jira epics and user stories from discovery and refinement through testing, release, and post-release validation.

Stakeholder leadership: Ability to manage competing priorities, facilitate decisions, influence without direct authority, and communicate with both business and technical audiences.

Technical aptitude: Experience with integrations, APIs, enterprise data flows, reporting, testing, incident analysis, and cross-application troubleshooting.

Communication: Strong written, verbal, facilitation, requirements definition, and executive communication skills.

Nice to have

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field.

Experience with ERP, integration, analytics, reporting, or workflow platforms connected to Wine & Spirits Operations systems.

Experience supporting regulated manufacturing, compliance, traceability, inventory, production, or supply chain processes.

Experience working with distributed users, managed service providers, software vendors, and cross-functional delivery teams.

Agile, Scrum, product management, Jira, ITIL, or relevant platform certifications.

Responsibilities

The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is the business-facing technology lead for the Wine & Spirits Operations application portfolio. The role combines product management, functional expertise, delivery coordination, and problem solving across Encompass Production Cloud, Vintrace, and connected enterprise platforms. Working with the Product Owner, business users, support teams, vendors, and IT delivery teams, the FDE converts operational needs into prioritized, delivery-ready work and supports solutions through release and adoption.

Product and Backlog Management

• Act as the day-to-day product management lead for the portfolio, partnering with the Product Owner on roadmap, value, and prioritization decisions.
• Manage demand intake and backlog health, including prioritization, refinement, ownership, dependencies, and delivery status.
• Translate business needs into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, release objectives, and definitions of done.
• Frame development activities by clarifying scope, business value, technical impacts, risks, data needs, and expected outcomes.
• Communicate roadmap progress, delivery status, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions to business and IT stakeholders.

Agile Delivery and Jira

• Apply Agile principles to enable iterative delivery, frequent business feedback, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Create and manage Jira epics, user stories, tasks, defects, acceptance criteria, links, dependencies, estimates, and workflow status through delivery.
• Facilitate or support backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, demonstrations, retrospectives, and release planning.
• Monitor blockers, aging work, cross-team dependencies, scope changes, and delivery risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Maintain traceability from business objective and requirement through testing, release, and value realization.

Business Partnership and Functional Leadership

• Build trusted relationships with winery, vineyard, distillery, supply chain, finance, quality, compliance, planning, and operational teams.
• Lead discovery sessions, requirements workshops, process reviews, solution demonstrations, and prioritization discussions.
• Provide functional expertise in Encompass Production Cloud, Vintrace, and farm-to-bottle processes, including winemaking, cellar, blend, bottling, distillery, inventory, compliance, traceability, planning, and reporting.
• Recommend scalable and supportable solutions that balance business value, user experience, standardization, risk, and cost.
• Define business processes, functional requirements, data needs, business rules, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.

Technical Delivery and Operational Support

• Coordinate solution delivery across application teams, architects, developers, integration teams, data and analytics, infrastructure, security, vendors, and service management partners.
• Work with other IT departments to modify integrations, improve data flows, resolve cross-system problems, and align solutions with enterprise standards.
• Facilitate technical discovery, solution reviews, estimation, dependency mapping, testing, release validation, and implementation readiness.
• Bridge L1, L2, and L3 support by clarifying ownership, business impact, escalation paths, and resolution plans.
• Lead or support root-cause analysis for complex or recurring issues and ensure corrective actions are tracked to completion.
• Coordinate vendor support, upgrades, patches, releases, knowledge transfer, support documentation, and operational handoffs.
