
Social Worker II - MSW - Wilm. Police Station - Rotating Shift every two weeks - 1st Shift - 6a-2p and 2nd Shift - 1p-9p
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Social Worker II - MSW/Mental Health Professional will support the City of Wilmington Police Department (WPD) Partners in Care; and will serve as a liaison among providers, hospitals, peer counselors, and people seeking treatment for and addressing their mental health needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Works as part of a team with the WPD Partners in Care.
Frequent contact with ChristianaCare Community Health Department.
Daily contact with persons who have or may have mental health needs/SUD and their families.
Frequent contact and collaboration with treatment providers, public safety agencies, and community groups.
Occasional community education and targeted outreach.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in a recognized mental health field.
An LPC or LCSW is preferred.
CADC/CAADC certification is preferred but not required.
A minimum of five years or more of experience in the field.
Background in addiction treatment, outreach, re-engagement, and understanding of law enforcement policy and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to apply ethical and legal principles to the treatment of offenders with mental health problems in a correctional setting, ensuring that offenders receive appropriate mental health care.
Knowledge of all HIPAA, OSHA, and PREA requirements to ensure compliance with all Federal and State laws, regulations and guidelines.
Must possess strong public speaking skills.
Must possess project management and data management skills.
Must possess research and analytical skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have flexibility to work a rotating shift and assist with covering on-call responsibilities.
Must submit weekly invoice for hours completed.
Must comply with all security regulations and directives of the WPD.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical office conditions when in office.
Work will require travel within the City of Wilmington and may require occasional statewide travel.
Hourly Pay Range: $30.34 - $48.55This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
