The Social Worker is responsible for providing social services to ensure the safety, well-being and permanency of children. The Social Worker ensures the provision of services to comply with all regulatory guidelines.

This job requires the following documents to be obtained, reviewed as acceptable by the supervisor and re-obtained every five years: PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Criminal History

A person in this position is expected to demonstrate the System of Care Practice Model which maximizes all resources around an individual or family. This system of care includes child and adult serving agencies and community partners that join with an individual or family to meet their goals.

This job requires a criminal background check.

Examples of duties

  • Provide social services in order to consistently ensure the safety well-being and permanency of children and improve family functioning.
  • Perform ongoing assessments in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop and implement plans to address the family’s specific needs and expectations including the goals as identified by the department.
  • Ensure coordination and implementation of plans according to the agencies mission and goals.
  • Produce and maintain timely reports and records in accordance with state regulations and agency policies to reflect service needs and social service outcomes.
  • Attend meetings, supervision and court as needed.
  • Maintain a professional public image in accordance with county and agency policy.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.


Social Worker: In Home Unit

  • Provide social services as specified in the family service plan to ensure the safety of all involved children and improve family functioning.
  • Testify in Court proceedings as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties as requested
  • Liaison between CYF and the department of Drug/Alcohol
  • Ensure staff and families have up to date community resource information regarding drug and alcohol services and providers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or University in Social Work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a private vehicle.


Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Two years of experience in public or private social work.
  • Two years of family therapy experience.
  • Drug and alcohol knowledge

Relevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments or evaluations will be conducted after an offer of employment is given per County policy.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:

  • Basic Word skills
  • Basic Outlook skills (Email and Calendar)


Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, drive a vehicle, and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to climb stairs, twist or rotate at the waist, lift or carry items, and taste or smell. On rare occasions, the employee will need to reach above shoulders or work with arms above shoulder height; bend at the waist or work while bent at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; and work with an uncommon level of noise.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be performed inside 50% of the time in an office environment.
  • Work will be performed in the field or driving to and from client homes 50% of the time.
