General Education Social Worker

Sanford Middle School | Grades 5�8

Sanford Middle School is seeking a collaborative, student-centered, and data-driven General Education Social Worker to join our team. This individual will provide social-emotional and behavioral support to students through individual and small-group interventions while working collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners to foster student success. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting student well-being, strengthening school connectedness, improving attendance, and contributing to a positive and inclusive school climate.

Pay Range: $48,751.00-$93,464.00

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based social-emotional and behavioral interventions to students in both individual and small-group settings.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to identify needs, monitor intervention effectiveness, improve attendance, and inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school counselors, special education staff, families, and community agencies to develop and coordinate student support plans.
  • Connect students and families with appropriate school and community resources.
  • Support initiatives that promote positive student behavior, school engagement, and regular attendance.
  • Assist in fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment through proactive, preventative practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to professional and ethical standards, and participate in ongoing professional learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work preferred.
  • Valid Maine certification/licensure as a School Social Worker.
  • Experience providing evidence-based social-emotional and behavioral interventions.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), restorative practices, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, communication, organizational, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
