Job Description

Liquid Personnel is seeking a skilled and resilient Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding team at Fawcett House. This role is focused on managing a diverse caseload of children and families, providing robust intervention from Child in Need (CIN) through to active Care Proceedings.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Caseload Management: Hold and manage a varied caseload including Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children in Care (CIC).
  • Court Work: Manage cases within the Public Law Outline (PLO) and Section 31 Care Proceedings. This includes writing Court Reports, parenting assessments, and risk assessments.
  • Court Attendance: Attend court hearings with the support of a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager.
  • Statutory Visits: Conduct regular statutory visits to children in CIN, CP, and CIC settings to monitor welfare and progress.
  • Meeting Leadership: Chair CIN and Core Group meetings, ensuring multi-agency coordination and clear action planning.
  • Conferences: Attend Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences (ICPC/RCPC) and produce high-quality conference reports.
  • Risk Management: Continually assess and manage risk, ensuring interventions are timely and evidence-based.
  • Duty Rota: Contribute to the team duty rota, responding to immediate safeguarding needs and referrals.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have;

  • Social Work England registration and a recognized Social Work qualification.
  • Safeguarding Expertise: Significant experience in frontline safeguarding, specifically with CP and Court work.
  • Assessment Skills: Proven ability to produce analytical parenting and risk assessments under tight deadlines.
  • Compliance: A fully completed DfE sheet must be submitted with your application.
  • Professionalism: Strong verbal and written communication skills to represent the local authority in professional and legal forums.

Working Hours and Hybrid Patter:

  • Hybrid Working: A hybrid model is in place, with the expectation to work from the office at Fawcett House 2–3 days per week.
  • Location: Fawcett House, Trumpington, Cambridge.
  • Contract: Full-time hours (37 hours per week).
