Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Social Worker - BSW Senior $37.949 to $46.403

The Senior Social Worker is an experienced clinician who may provide supervision and coaching within acute care in the Women's and Children's Team, reporting directly to a Women's and Children's Team Manager. The position requires the use of high order knowledge, clinical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to assess and support clients and/or to coach, mentor, orientate and provide education to an assigned team in Women's and Children. Drawing on standards of practice for case management; professional codes of ethics; social work standards of practice in health care; program policy and procedures; and, relevant legislation, the senior social worker provides high quality client service and maintains professional standards of practice. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

  • Baccalaureate of Social Work degree

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical social work

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to provide counseling and therapy to individuals, couples and groups
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in recognized social work methodologies
  • knowledge of concepts/strategies used to develop/deliver educational programming
  • Ability to carry out duties in a manner that meets clients’ safety needs
  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
  • Ability to establish working relationships with clients during times of distress
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Strong initiative and independent judgement to solve complex problems
  • Ability to take large amount of complex information and convey it concisely
