Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Social Worker - BSW $35.137 to $42.966

Reporting to the Manager, the MAID Social Worker provides consultation/collaboration with the Provincial MAID Program team, providers/assessors, healthcare providers, facilities, social workers and community services across the Province to achieve excellence in psychosocial end of life care related to medical assistance in dying. With clinical consultation, mentoring and practice support of the MAID MSW Senior Social Worker, the incumbent provides psychosocial care in medical assistance in dying through the continuum of care (pre-MAID, MAID provision, post-MAID bereavement) including education, assessments, counselling interventions and evaluation of services to individuals/families. The incumbent participates in leadership/initiatives on psychosocial care through research, education, resource/program development, mentorship, and advocacy. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Memberships

  • Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in the SHA, community resources and applicable programming
  • Cultural compentency and can work effectively in multicultural environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to competently use computers and software applications
  • Knowledge in end of life care and strategies for patients and families
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work independently
  • Knowledge and practical application of relevant legislation to end of life care
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible for registration with the appropriate licensing body
  • Previous experience with patients exploring end of life options is an asset.
