Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Social Worker - BSW $35.137 to $42.966

Under the direction of the Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker-BSW provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, psychosocial counselling, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. This Social Worker-BSW provides outreach services to a population that often experienced barriers to typical mental health services. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.

Experience

  • 1 yr recent exp. in a community MH setting working w/ children, youth & families

Education

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge in normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology
  • Ability to document in a concise and timely manner
  • Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups
  • Ability to provide public education regarding children/youth mental health issues
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
  • Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
  • Responsible for conducting self in a safe manner as outlined in the OHSA
  • Ability to effectively handle a large caseload,
  • Ability to design, initiate and conduct training for other professionals

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
  • HSAS seniority in the SHA will be considered under the selection criteria
