Grade 8 Social Worker

Recruitment & Assessment Team – Regional Adoption Agency

Are you a passionate Social Worker looking to make a real, lasting difference in children’s lives?

We’re looking for a Grade 8 Social Worker to join our Recruitment & Assessment Team within the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA). This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals and families throughout their adoption journey, helping to create safe, stable, and loving homes for children.

About Us

The Regional Adoption Agency works in partnership with:

  • Lancashire County Council
  • Blackpool Council
  • Blackburn with Darwen Council

Together, we deliver a wide range of adoption services, including:

  • Recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters
  • Adoption support
  • Family finding

Our shared goal is simple but powerful — to achieve the very best outcomes for children who need adoptive families.

About the Role

As a Recruitment & Assessment Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in guiding and supporting prospective adopters every step of the way.

This is a varied and fulfilling role where you will:

  • Recruit and assess prospective adopters
  • Deliver preparation and training (pre- and post-approval)
  • Support families through the matching process
  • Provide ongoing support once children are placed, up to the Adoption Order

You’ll build meaningful relationships with families and work closely with partner agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

Why Join Lancashire Children’s Services?

Lancashire is a place we’re incredibly proud of — and the work we do here truly makes a difference.

As one of the largest local authorities in the country, supporting over 1.2 million residents, we offer a strong, supportive environment where practitioners can thrive.

We offer:

  • A positive, reflective and supportive culture
  • Access to our well-established Social Work Academy, supporting you from day one
  • Ongoing training, development, and career progression opportunities
  • Access to the latest research to support high-quality practice
  • Flexible working, including the ability to work from home
  • Managers who prioritise wellbeing and team culture
  • Opportunities to get involved in practitioner forums and initiatives

Whether you’re early in your career or looking for your next step, you’ll be supported to grow and succeed.
